Physical Education at the Spring Street School
The students at the Spring Street School have been working on many skill since the start of school. We practiced our running skills outside when the weather was warm and played individual and partner games. Inside we have been practicing skipping, hopping, jumping, galloping and leaping to mention a few skills.
Individual, partner and small group games have been played as well as dancing.
Throwing a ball both overhand and underhand is still in the "learning stages". The students are doing a great job and I am very proud of them.
Update: We have been very busy at the Kindergarten learning many things. The students have been hard at work learning rules to games and why they are important to follow. For instance, when playing "Rat Tail", you have to give the player's tail back to them - don't drop it on the floor. In the game of "Frogs & Lady Bugs", if you're a Frog, you have to cover the white bean bag not the red bean bag.
Stretching our muscles is very important before we start our class. We work on balance and flexibility as well.
Throwing underhand, overhand and catching is practiced through game play. The students are doing a great job and working very hard.
Now that the weather has warmed up and the grass is dry we have gone outside to run, skip, gallop, hop and jump. We have been playing a lot of running games like "Steal the Treasure", "Fire & Ice" and "The Chicken Game". The students have learned a lot over the last year and I have enjoyed teaching them.
